DescriptionSpecies: mouse, C3H/He; Tissue: embryo; Tumor: teratocarcinoma
DepositorDr F. Tosetti, Molecular Biology Dept, IST at ABC, Genoa, Italy
Reference paperDev Biol 1982;89:503-508 - DOI: 10.1016/0012-1606(82)90338-4 - PMID: 7056443
Morphology and growthcontinuous culture, grown as monolayer, morphology epithelial-like
Culture conditionsDMEM + 10% FBS + 2mM L-Glutamine; split confluent cultures 1:10-1:20 using trypsin/EDTA; seed at 2-4 x 10^4 cells/cm2; 37C, 5% CO2
PropertiesP19 cells can be induced by retinoic acid (RA) to differentiate into neuronal and glial cells or contractile cardiac muscle cells, depending upon RA concentration and cell density. They can also spontaneously differentiate when plated at too low or too high density and when grown in suspension.
DistributionCell line available for distribution. For non-commercial investigative use only
Hazard
Species validationValidated by isoenzymes: confirmed as mouse with NP, PepB
Freezing mediumCulture medium + 50% FBS + 10% DMSO
